About The Design Net

Craftmanship

Our workshops bring together the time honoured traditions and skills of handmade cabinet making and upholstery whilst meeting the demands of furniture manufacturing techniques today with CNC machinery, edge banders, veneer presses and spray booths.

We also draw on the expertise of a number of specialists who we are able to call on when particular skills are required.

These include:

  • Hand carvers
  • Gilders
  • Specialist and decorative finishers
  • Leather workers
  • Metal workers
  • Stone and marble masons
  • French polishers
  • Glass and mirror specialists

Access to such a diverse range of skills makes us uniquely qualified to undertake any project.

Manufacture

We are able to make one-off pieces of furniture to small or medium size batches of furniture, to phased manufacture over a set period for larger orders. This enables us to work with sole traders, large design practices and hotel chains.

Measurements

Measurements are shown in mm (millimetres).

CAD drawings

CAD drawings are produced for each piece of custom furniture ordered and these have to be signed off prior to manufacture.

Fabric & leather

Our preferred fabric and leather suppliers are all British too; we work well with the following companies:

  • Bute
  • Sekers
  • Olicana
  • Andrew Muirhead
  • Abraham Moon & Sons (Moon)

Sample swatches are available to order through us and stock availability is usually very good.

We are happy to work with your own fabric or leather too and if needed can interline or have fire treated for you.

Sustainability

The Design Net has a strict environmental policy. We make every effort to ensure that we source timber from reputable suppliers in Europe and North America where regulations are easily monitored and certification is available.

Any tropical or southern hemisphere timbers are only sourced on request from reputable suppliers where they can demonstrate true sustainability and where they have not devastated entire forests destroying all natural plant and wildlife.

Delivery lead times

Our standard delivery lead time is 6-8 weeks from date of order, although often we may deliver sooner. For medium to large projects we would confirm a suitable delivery date with you. Please enquire if you have a delivery deadline to meet.
